According to a recent study in Britain, an average cell phone had 18 times the amount of fecal matter, e.coli and staphylococcus aureus than what you'd find in a men's bathroom. You're picking up germs from elevator buttons, door knobs and ATM screens and the glass surfaces of smartphones are easily susceptible for transmitting germs and bacteria - and since your phone is often wedged between your hands and face, those pesky germs can easily find their way to your ear, eyes and nose.

So while you video chat and share your latest awesome stories on your social network, take a moment to keep your paws clean the old-fashioned, low-tech way : wash your hands.

Swine Flu and Flu Pandemic -- How to Reduce the Risk of Infections

Infection prevention more important than ever, say world experts.  The World Health Organisation has urged countries to prepare for a Swine Flu pandemic as it raised its pandemic alert status to five on Thursday – one level from a full pandemic – after confirmation of sustained transmission between humans. The UK government is preparing to issue advice leaflets to every home on how to prevent the spread of the feared H1N1 virus, with a focus on good hand hygiene.

Infection Control experts fear the possible mutation of the highly pathogenic Swine Flu virus H1N1 now suspected in the UK will trigger a flu pandemic, putting millions of lives at risk The British Government’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Sir Liam Donaldson, recently stated that "clean hands are the best defense against the threatened flu pandemic."
